AMERICAN RIVER SALMON FESTIVAL RUNS THIS WEEKEND! (10-14-2007)
Full Description:
Come watch the salmon run at the Nimbus Fish Hatchery on Saturday or Sunday, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at the annual American River Salmon Festival. This yearly celebration of the spawning salmon's return offers families a host of fishy action: face painting, live music, cultural dances, arts & crafts, games, even a river-themed fashion show. There are food booths as well, including (s-h-h-h) a salmon barbecue!
The event, which takes place at the hatchery and on Lake Natomas, just off Highway 50 at Hazel Avenue, also includes guided kayak and canoe tours, and river rafting. Parking costs $8 and includes use of the free shuttle bus. For further details, call 358-2893.
