GO WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE IN THIS AREA!

Full Description:

Would you like to discover the many wild animals sharing our local environment? Take a nature hike, Feb. 2 at 1:30 p.m., with a ranger from Effie Yeaw Nature Center at Ancil Hoffman County Park. This area, along the American River, boasts all the familiar birds and critters one would expect, as well as some rarer beasts like busy beavers, wily coyotes, deer, even an occasional wildcat or cougar.

These nature hikes are held on an ongoing basis, with upcoming ones also set for Feb. 3rd and Feb. 10th. A special birding hike is planned for Feb. 9th. Also, a special program on a local Native American tribe, the Maidu, is set for Feb. 23rd. Park entrance is $5/car or free to members. The park & center are located at 2850 San Lorenzo Way, off Tarshes Drive in Carmichael. Call (916)489-4918 for info or directions.
